BSNL is going to offer e-learning through BROADBAND with special focus on tuitions for students appearing for SSLC and HSLC examinations. This service would be free of cost if opted for Rs. 900 unlimited BROADBAND package. This service would be made available before the students take their exams.

Rcom gets loan from chinese bank

Rcom has recieved a $750 million loan from china development bank that would be invested in building a nation wide GSM footprint for the telephony major.The Anil Ambani group company has received the loan for a ten-year period and at a rate of Libor (London Inter-Bank Offered Rate) plus 80 basis points. RCom had received the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) approvals for the loan, sources close to the development said. The loan gives significant advantage to the company's GSM foray as it carries a tenure 3 to 4 years longer and around 50 basis points lower than any other options, they said. When contacted, an RCom spokesperson confirmed the development. The company will use a large part of the loan to purchase GSM electronic equipment from Taiwanese electronic major Huawei. RCom plans to launch nationwide GSM services by the end of this financial year and has announced a capital expenditure of $1 billion for active GSM infrastructure. RCom will lease passive infrastructure from Reliance Infratel, a company in which it holds 95 per cent equity. The company has begun discussions with leading equipment manufacturers such as Huawei, Alcatel Lucent, ZTE, Ericsson, Motorola and Nokia, among others.

BSNL has introduced free personal accident insurance for all the subscribers who use their landline, wll, broadband, mobile service, etc. This accidental insurance is worth Rs. 50,000 which will be applicable for all new connections and existing ones too. My experience of BSNL broadband on apple mac book

Recently I bought apple mac book. Bsnl broadband worked quite well in apple mac too. The ipod and iphone giant Apple's mac book has got safari web browser which is very cool for web browsing and its something new to browse in safari browser. At first bsnl broadband not worked well in mac os. But after downloading relevant drivers from internet (took me more than 3 hrs to search) and installed those drivers. Now its working very well. I posted this post to tell my experience with my NEW APPLE MAC BOOK.

Nokia Siemens-BSNL DEAL

Nokia siemens anounced that it had won bsnl contract to provide Broadband access across 7000 indian villages. The new access network’s high bandwidth will allow BSNL to deliver high data and triple play intensive services such as Video on Demand, Video Multi cast, IPTV, Video Conferencing and VPN among others to its customers. The network will also enable BSNL to provide connectivity to CSCs (Community Service Centres) and other e-governance locations, Nokia Siemens said in a statement. As part of the contract, NSN is deploying its Gigabit Ethernet-capable IP DSLAMs Surpass hiX5625 (Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexers) and chassis based access switch (Surpass hiD6615). NSN will also supply end-user devices that will enable BSNL to provide speeds of up to 24Mbps for ADSL2+ subscribers over its existing copper infrastructure. The first phase of new lines deployment will be completed by first quarter of 2008.

How to connect to internet through BSNL home telephone to my Dell or HP laptop?

1st you need to have working Ethernet Modem on your Dell,HP or any other laptop to connect internet.
Then install modem driver which is provided by laptop company.
or download it from relevant website.
Then you need dial-up user name and password. Go to nearest BSNL branch and ask them to dial-up internet voucher.
Voucher is a prepaid card like mobile recharge voucher.
Voucher is available as per your usage requirment.
If you have normal use, purchase 200/- Rs voucher.
you will be provided 25 hours of internet for 6 Months.
Register voucher on BSNL website.
It will ask you username and password.
Provide the user name and password mentioned on the voucher while connecting internet from your DELL/HP laptop.

EVDO Connection Problems Troubleshooting

If your are having problems connecting to EVDO network or accesing internet, try the steps given below:
1. Double check user id and password entered.
2. Check that you do have EVDO or CDMA coverage at the area.
3. Disable all other network connections in your windows system.
4. Check that no proxy is configured in the browser.

Technical details of BSNL EVDO service

In BSNL EVDO service you don't get a public IP. You will get a static shared IP.
Typically there is no problem with this but it will create problems except in cases
where public IP is important.
For eg: Rapidshare has a download limit per IP. Since you are sharing same IP
with a lot of other EVDO users, you may not be able to download from Rapidshare.
Currently there are limited EVDO connections but if the EDVO connections are
increased BSNL will allow public IP.

Tips for speeding up your EVDO connection

Sometimes the EVDO connection speed will be slow.This may happen for different reasons.
First: There could be weak signal in your area
Second: There maynot be EVDO coverage in your BSNL network antenna.
Third: Also if there are too many customers connecting to a specific BSNL network antenna.

TO overcome this,experiment positioning the card at different places.
Also turn the antenna and see whether signal strength improves.

An Intro to BSNL EVDO

BSNL introduced 3G in the form of wireless EVDO broadband service. At present it will only available in some selected cities in India but soon it will be introduced allover the country.It is offering a speed up to 2Mbps.But if there is no EVDO coverage in your area, it gives speed up to 128 Kbps by switching to CDMA connection type.

Bsnl EVDO procedure and Details

You don't need to have BSNL landline connection for EVDO connection.
If you have BSNL landline connection, it is very good and you don't need any address verification for it. If you don't have BSNL landline connection address verification will be done by BSNL.
So it's not compulsory to have BSNL landline connection to get EDVO connection.
you must submit Passport size photo,address proof and your photo ID.

BSNL is going to launch data Services on CDMA 2000 IX by using BSNL Internet Connect Card (ICC)

BSNL is planning to launch Data Services on CDMA 2000 IX using BSNL Internet Connect Card.
It will provide Internet Service @144kbps to computer users.This Service is available in all those locations wherever CDMA IX MSC based coverage is there.
Note:At present during roaming Internet connectivity will not work at present.

Changing from pppoe to bridge connection to get rid of Disconnecting Problems

If your broad band is creating troubles to you by not connecting properly then you must change your connection mode from pppoe to bridge mode.To do this switch on your modem and open internet explorer and type 192.168.1.1 and press enter.Then you will be asked for username and password.Enter admin for both username and password and enter.Then click on advanced setup which is on left side of the webpage, then you will get some options under it. Click on WAN option then you will see a table then see under protocol, you will find all are in bridge except the first one which is in pppoe. Then click on the edit icon which is beside pppoe protocol.Then click next and remember dont change any values, then you will be asked to select the type of network protocol. There you select bridging and click next and then go on clicking next until you find save.Then click save and then click save/reboot. Remember not to change any values.
